This weekend Linds and I drove to Colorado for two reasons: to visit my brother, Aaron and his wife Becky, and to hike our first 14er. What’s a 14er? We didn’t know either. It’s a mountain peak that’s over 14,000 feet. This one was called Mount Bierstadt. Or as I like to think of it, Beer! STAT! We had watched a couple YouTube videos during the week to prepare us for the hike. But they sorely mislead us. The hike was anything BUT a leisurely stroll on a flatish easy trail. It was a HELLUVA climb! We actually knew of at least 5 ambulances that came and went that day. But, we did it. We conquered Bierstadt!

We did it! We drove to CO for 8 hours, slept for 4 hours, then hiked for 5 hours! . . . Mount Bierstadt did not disappoint. It was rough and amazing at the same time. The elevation made itself known. We all felt the effects of it in one way or another. . . Also, there were SO MANY people! It was an unbelievable sight. Hundreds, if not thousands of people lined this trail. Apparently hiking the "14ers" in CO is a big deal. . .
