This XTERRA race wants to be ranked #1 this year among 60 XTERRA races country wide and the race organizers are pulling out all the stops! According to Shawn W. (fellow GPP'er, USAT coach, athlete, and race organizer), "This will be an epic race with huge prizes!". There will be live music, food, drawings, and prizes for all the participants and volunteers.
Saturday June 11, 2011 the gun will go off and the athletes will race from the beach into Lake Leatherwood for a 1/2 mile swim, followed by a 200 yard, flat run to the transition area. Then a 13 mile mountain bike course with, " a mixture of single and double track sections that are semi-technical and include challenging rocky terrain, steep climbs, and several fun and fast descents." Following T2 is the 5 mile trail run through the mountains, within the park, that includes 2 tough climbs. There will be 10 aid stations along the bike course and 3 along the run course.
Eureka Springs is located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and will be a beautiful setting for such a challenging race! We are thrilled to support T3 Training Systems in thier first year running this race! Chip and Shawn will do an amazing job, that's the only way they do things! We hope to get some of the Utah GPP folk out there to support T3 and the GPP Arkansas gang this weekend!
